Rituparna Chattopadhyay graduated with a first-class degree in Bachelor of Laws in 2004 (ranking 3rd) from Symbiosis Law College, University of Pune, India. Prior to her legal studies she obtained a degree in Political Science (Hons.) from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, India (2001). Rituparna worked as a shipping litigation lawyer with Bose & Mitra and practised as an Advocate in the High Court of Calcutta and the Supreme Court in India for 4 years (2004-2008).

Rituparna joined the London office of international law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP in 2009 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2012. She worked at the firm as an associate for over 13 years specialising in a wide range of shipping and international trade matters mainly charterparty, sale and purchase and bill of lading disputes. Rituparna also regularly acted for owners and lenders in a number of shipbuilding and ship finance disputes and has advised the offshore sector in relation to the drafting and negotiation of operating contracts and issues of enforcement.

Rituparna joined Nordisk in May 2023.
