The purpose of the fund is to support Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish lawyers who wish to acquire improved qualifications for practising maritime law through academic research or practical legal experience outside the Nordic countries. Scholarships of various amounts are awarded up to a maximum of approximately NOK 300,000 given the length of the scholarship and other terms. The scholarships may be awarded to support trainee assignments with law firms primarily in New York or London. We may assist in arranging the trainee assignments.
Applications must be made in writing and include a description of the intended use of the scholarship. All applications must be accompanied by an up-to-date CV and documentation of studies and employment. Applications should be sent by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The application deadline is 31 January each year.
We are pleased to report that the Board of Kristian Gerhard Jebsen og Jantzens Fond has awarded two scholarships for 2022.
One to Norwegian applicant Sofie Mæland Tykvenko of Thommessen law firm who will spend six months as a trainee at a London law firm, and one to Finnish applicant Cea Mittler of Bird & Bird law firm, who will pursue an LL.M in maritime law at the National University of Singapore. Congratulations to both.
