Steinar Nyrud has been appointed Managing Director for Nordisk Skibsrederforening

He will start as soon as he has ended his current position as General Counsel at Høegh Autoliners Management AS.  

“The Board of Directors have experienced a strong interest from many well qualified candidates to take over as Managing Director for Nordisk. Nordisk has a solid foundation for further development, and we are pleased that Nyrud has decided to take the position. “He has a strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of the industry, both from being a lawyer and also coming from the customer side” says Chairman of the Board, Hans Peter Jebsen. 

Steinar Nyrud (50) holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Oslo. He started his career at Nærings and Handelsdepartementet in 1994, then became a lawyer at Nycomed in 1997, thereafter a lawyer at Wiersholm for 7 years before he entered his current position as General Counsel at Leif Høegh & Co AS in 2005. He is a Member of Rettsutvalget at Norges Rederforbund (Norwegian Shipowner’s Association) since 2014. 

“I am looking forward to becoming a part of Nordisk Skibsrederforening. I am well familiar with the quality of its services and its expertise in maritime law. I have also been impressed by how Nordisk has become recognized by its clients for being a strategic partner in advising in maritime matters. Nordisk’s expertise and position constitute   a strong base for developing the business further”, says Steinar Nyrud.  

Until Steinar Nyrud starts as Managing Director, Tor Erik Andreassen will act as interim Managing Director and Michael Brooks together with Lasse Brautaset will constitute an interim legal committee at Nordisk Skibsrederforening.
