We are pleased to report that the Board of the “Kristian Gerhard Jebsen og Jantzens Fond til fremme for sjørettsforskning” has decided to award two scholarships for 2022.
The application process included a number of strong applicants and interesting applications.
One of the two scholarships is being awarded to Norwegian applicant Sofie Mæland Tykvenko of Thommessen law firm, who intends to spend six months as a trainee at a London law firm. The other goes to Finnish applicant Cea Mittler of Bird & Bird law firm, who will pursue a LL.M in maritime law in at the National University of Singapore.
Nordisk congratulates Tykvenko and Mittler and wish them the best at their stays in London and Singapore respectively.
By way of background, the Fund was established in 1939 at Nordisk’s 50 year anniversary to help lawyers from the Nordic countries gain experience or obtain further education in maritime law abroad. The initial donation was made by Swedish shipowner Axel A. Johnson, in honor of Nordisk’s long serving CEO Johs. Jantzen (1865-1946). More recently, a substantial contribution to the Fund’s work was made in memory of the shipowner Kristian Gerhard Jebsen (1927-2004) of KGJS.
